Highlights from 2025 August Cerebral Palsy Bootcamp

The Straight Child Foundation (TSCF) hosted a Cerebral Palsy Seminar for Health Workers on August 12th with 56 participants including doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, government functionaries from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Disability Commission, media representatives (NUJ Chairman & All Facts News), and parents of children with CP.

Discussions focused on early detection, referral pathways, multidisciplinary care, and caregiver support.

This was followed by our 2-day CP Boot Camp Clinics (13th–14th August) at the TSCF Head Office, Umuahia. A total of 84 people participated – 29 children with CP, 35 parents, and 20 health-care providers.

Children and families benefitted from free Paediatric, Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Prosthetics & Orthotics, and Clinical Psychology Clinics – all working together to provide holistic care, home programmes development, and support for both children and caregivers.

These events strengthened partnerships with stakeholders, improved health workers capacity, and gave families practical skills and renewed hope.

Together, we are building abilities, supporting families, and breaking barriers for children living with CP.
