Raising Awareness; Inspiring Action for Cerebral Palsy

On March 22, 2025, The Straight Child Foundation (TSCF) hosted a powerful Cerebral Palsy Awareness Seminar at Queen Elizabeth Hall, FMC Umuahia. The event brought together experts, caregivers, and advocates to discuss the challenges of cerebral palsy (CP) and explore ways to improve the lives of children living with the condition.

Key Highlights:

Learning Sessions – Physiotherapists Mrs Irika Favoir and Mr Effiong Excellence educated attendees on CP types, risk factors, and practical management strategies.

TED Talk by Dave Dame – Focused on resilience, goal-setting, and embracing challenges.

Real-Life Stories – Parents and caregivers courageously shared their experiences, breaking the stigma around CP.

Beyond Limits Panel – Featuring Paralympian Esther Nworgu, Representative of the Ministry of Women Affairs, and TSCF’s Dr. Peace Amaraegbulam, advocating for inclusivity and better support systems.

Interactive Trivia – Participants tested their knowledge and won exciting prizes!

The seminar ended with a call to action for greater advocacy, acceptance, and access to quality care. Every child, regardless of ability, deserves the chance to thrive!
