CP Parent Support Group Meeting

Today 21st February, 2026, we held a truly impactful Cerebral Palsy (CP) Parents Support Group Meeting at The Straight Child Foundation (TSCF) — and it was nothing short of inspiring.

One of our parents served as the guest speaker and shared her powerful story of resilience, strength, and hope. She encouraged every parent in the room never to give up, reminding us all that though the journey may be demanding, it is not without purpose and possibility.

Her story opened the floor to an honest and heartfelt question-and-answer session. Parents discussed:

– How they cope daily with the responsibility of caring for a child who is totally dependent on them.

– How a first-time mother is navigating the realities of raising a child with special needs.

– How to better understand the cues and communication patterns of children living with CP.

The conversation also extended to a video shared in our WhatsApp community of an evangelist living with CP who preached almost fluently. Parents were deeply moved and asked an important question: “How can our children attain such progress?”

The responses highlighted a critical need — stronger government investment in facilities that provide comprehensive care for children with CP.

Access to structured rehabilitation services, consistent therapy, and individualized care plans can significantly complement and enhance each child’s abilities, no matter their level of functional limitation.

It was a revealing and educative session. First-time mothers were encouraged to intentionally connect with older parents in the community, build supportive relationships, and seek help whenever needed.

No one should walk this journey alone.

The meeting was attended by 20 parents and supported by 9 dedicated TSCF staff and volunteers. Together, we continue to build a community of strength, knowledge, and unwavering hope.

We remain committed to walking this journey together.
