
Various categories of healthcare professionals on August 18 2021, converged at the Queen Elizabeth Chapel Hall, Federal Medical Center (FMC) Umuahia, to cater for the needs of children with CEREBRAL PALSY in Abia State.
The event which was put together by The Straight Child Foundation, a non-governmental organization, saw speech therapists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, nurses, social workers, orthopedic surgeon and prosthetic experts attending to the children and advising their parents on how best to care for them.
The founder of the organization and a consultant orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Peace Amaraegbulam, on her speech said the organization was set up to provide quality care to Cerebral Palsy patients while the Director of Physiotherapy, and Team Leader, Dr. Uche Oluwatosin, said the one day boot camp was organized to help the children achieve their potentials through improve knowledge, advocacy and training.
One of the highpoints of the event was the presentation of mobility aids to some of the children.
